Last night on April 12, 2022, I had the opportunity to give my presentation on the Legacy of Star Work Coverlets via zoom to the Pioneer Valley Weavers Guild in Massachusetts. The design of star work coverlets has fascinated me for many years. I appreciate that I now have a Toika computer assist loom to design and weave the patterns that require 18 to 22 shafts.
On March 19, 2022, I had the opportunity to give my presentation on A Master’s Class in American Handwoven Coverlets via zoom to the Arrow Rock Weaver Guild in Missouri. For this presentation I explored the wider view of American handwoven coverlets. I confess that I have been fascinated with coverlets and their drafts for over 30 years. When I see a coverlet, I want to figure out the draft via fabric analysis. Likewise, I am curious about the early drafts and want to figure out their drawdowns via fiberworks. I welcome the chance to share my exploration with other weavers.
While I would have preferred to meet with the guild members in Missouri and Massachusetts in person, I have found that zoom presentation have filled the void as an alternative.
