Interpretation of manuscript page per Keith Reigart:
This book belongs to Georg
Lauck and whoever steals it from me is
a thief and whoever brings it to me again
he is a child of God 1825
Georg Lauck was born the 6th
day of July in the year 1805 and
was baptized the 8th day of September
in the year 1805 The baptismal witnesses
were Georg Ruth and his
wife Catharina, born a Gernant
George Lauck, Millcreek Township, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania (1805- 1871). His pattern manuscript (1805-1829) represents what he might have woven. He would have hand copied his pattern book while he served as a novice weaver under the master weaver’s tutelage.
Attached are photos of his manuscript, courtesy, Division of Cultural and Community Life, National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution http://collections.si.edu/. Along with each draft is a drawdown prepared by Gay McGeary and a summary of the details about the draft. Click on the drawdown to view the details of the draft.
