I have added three past presentations to my webpage entitled Out & About/Coverlet Presentations: Coverlet Presentation
First I have added my Star Work presentation from the 2013 Coverlet College. I have to admit that I am fascinated with star work coverlets. I have done extensive research on them. In my presentation I use drawdowns of a six block star motif to show the various threading systems. I also included my handout from the presentation.
Next I include two presentations from the 2019 Coverlet College. At this event I shared information about the 2019 donations of Carol Strickler's & Nancy Rawson's Coverlet Collections. I had brief communication with both women years ago. In the 1970's Carol and I exchange letters about star work coverlets. In those days we only had large sheets of graph paper to complete our drawdowns. Nancy Rawson was a member of the Complex Weavers Early American Coverlets and Counterpanes Study Group from the very beginning when I restarted the group in 2006. I have included the block twill sample that Nancy submitted in 2006. She was a member until she past away in the last several years.
If you would like to see some of their coverlets, visit the National Museum Of the American Coverlet in Bedford, Pennsylvania and contact Melinda Zongor, Museum Director/Curator: www.coverletmuseum.org/
If you want to be on my email list for notification of future blogs, send me an email to coverletweaver@gmail.com.
