The National Museum of the American Coverlet is located in Bedford, Pennsylvania and is well worth a visit. The current exhibit is a ten-year retrospective entitled First Ten Years. There are over 40 geometric coverlets in the exhibit and an equal number of figured and fancy ones. I have determined the drafts for some of them and they can be found on my website at First Ten Years. Click on the drawdown of your choice and you will get a pdf file with my analysis.
To learn more about the Museum, click on Coverlet Museum. In the upper right-hand corner you will find a link to the August 2016 Newsletter that was post yesterday. It includes an article I wrote about an unusual group of star work coverlet patterns, which are enclosed with a straight lined border on four sides.
Finally, during the last week end in September is the Coverlet College. It is a two-day event with presentations related to coverlet weaving on Saturday and Sunday. On Friday afternoon are two workshops: one is “Understanding Overshot” and the other is “Weave Structures Used for Geometric Coverlets.”
